Letter to Chairman Fetzer and the North Carolina Republican Party Executive Committee

October 15, 2009
Chairman Tom Fetzer
North Carolina Republican Party
1506 Hillsborough St.
Raleigh, NC 27605

Dear Chairman Fetzer and the North Carolina Republican Party Executive Committee:
The Buncombe County Republican Party Executive Committee, on September 28, 2009, discussed the below issues and concerns regarding the duly elected Chairman and Vice Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party and authorized the committee members, listed below, to draft and send this letter to the North Carolina Republican Party Executive Committee.

If the Republican Party is to represent the people, it is imperative that the Party follow the wishes of the people, clearly expressed at
our North Carolina Republican Convention in June; that Tom Fetzer should be the Chairman of the NCGOP and that Timothy Johnson
should be the Vice Chairman of the NCGOP. When the delegates elected a Chairman and a Vice Chairman to lead this party, the
expectation was, and continues to be, that all elected officers would be supported in their respective duties and given the tools and
resources necessary to succeed.
Emails have circulated throughout the state detailing a rift between the Chairman and Vice Chairman and the exclusion of the Vice
Chairman from NCGOP business and a denial of basic resources necessary to do his duty as Vice Chairman. News of this internal
conflict has already made it into public news outlets. The media and our opponents are now watching our party waiting for more "dirt" to arise.

A closed door Central Committee meeting and "vow of silence" by those in attendance has added to the confusion, distrust and rumors.
This volatile situation has tremendous potential for painting the Republican Party in a negative light, reinforcing old stereotypes, discouraging volunteers and donors, and distracting the entire party from the important work of getting principled Republicans elected.

The Buncombe County Republican Party Executive Committee respectfully requests that the Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party do everything in his power to correct any rifts or unfair treatment toward the Vice Chairman or any other elected officers. Or, if he does not feel that such issues exist, we ask that he take corrective action to change the now widespread perception that such rifts and unfair treatment are occurring.

We ask that all officers and members of the NCGOP Executive Committee work
together to resolve conflicts quickly, forgive each other, and move forward.
We ask this not for the sake of any one individual, but out of our sincere belief that the North Carolina Republican Party is an essential
component in saving our country and our state from the massive damage being done in Raleigh and Washington. There is no time to waste on internal conflicts.

We need our elected leaders to work together in the best interest of the American people.
Respectfully,
Buncombe County Republican Party Executive Committee
This letter prepared and adopted on October 15, 2009 by unanimous consent of this special committee with authority given by the
Buncombe County Republican Party Executive Committee.
